Trans Day of Remembrance 2018: A message from trans activists from around the world

From Transrespect versus Transphobia Worldwide (TvT) :

“Today we remember the lives of our trans siblings who were killed in the last year.

The anti-trans stigma and violence that we face on a daily basis is further intensified by racism, misogyny, ableism, classism, xenophobia, anti-sex worker hatred, and other forms of oppression.

Still, trans activists do not accept the passivity expected from us. We speak up and take action. We speak up and take action!

Today, we honour our trans communities. The ones who were taken from us. The ones who survived. The ones who push forward and break boundaries. The ones who reinvent our own paths against absent and exclusionary institutions. The ones who help each other heal and build collective resilience.

We are vulnerable and we are strong. We exist. We resist. We fight back.”
